Excursion Itinerary
Upon arrival, visit the historic Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya, one of the most sacred Buddhist temples in Sri Lanka. Then, proceed to Kandy for your overnight stay.
Spend the day in Kandy. Visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (Dalada Maligawa), the most venerated site for Buddhists worldwide. Explore the city and enjoy a cultural dance performance.
Travel to Matale to visit the Alu Viharaya temple. Then, visit the Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO site with ancient Buddhist murals and statues. Proceed to Sigiriya.
Climb the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. In the afternoon, explore the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, visiting the Gal Vihara and other sacred Buddhist ruins.
Full day excursion to Anuradhapura, the first capital. Visit the Atamasthana (eight sacred places), including the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi and the Ruwanweli Maha Seya.
Drive to Colombo. In the evening, visit the Gangaramaya Temple and the Bellanwila Rajamaha Viharaya. Enjoy the serene atmosphere of these urban temples.
A final visit to the National Museum to see the Buddhist artifacts before being transferred to the airport for departure.
